Summer vacation is here! Little Coffee, Little Bottle, and Boxy were lying on the beach, doing nothing and feeling completely lazy and lifeless…
Just then, Waste-Less Squad captain OPEN arrived: “Who says being lazy is useless? You just haven’t been to the right place yet!”
And so, a magical “recycling transformation mission” begins!
Little Coffee, Little Bottle, and Boxy follow OPEN to a 7-ELEVEN store and enter a secret recycling base. There, they discover that even waste can transform in amazing ways and create new value again!
This summer, the Good Neighbor Foundation presents the mini picture book 《The Waste-Less Squad, Fun with Recycling》. Through a fun picture book, DIY games, and sustainability missions, families can learn how 7-ELEVEN promotes a circular economy by turning recycled resources into useful products. Used drink cups, lunch boxes, and cardboard boxes can all be collected and reused. In this way, “waste” goes into a new cycle and becomes something valuable again.
Stop 1｜[Coffee Grounds Team]
Did you know? Coffee grounds left after making coffee are not useless at all!
Coffee grounds can be turned into fertilizer to grow fresh green lettuce and support sustainable farms.
They can also become functional fabrics and shoe materials, turning into stylish everyday products.
Stop 2｜[Plastic Bottle Team]
After recycling,
plastic bottles go through 7-ELEVEN’s smart in-store recycling machines.
They can even be transformed into new 7-ELEVEN Sunshine Fruits and Vegetables (光合蔬果) salad boxes, bags, and other recycled products.
It turns out recycled items from daily life
can find their way back to us again!
Stop 3｜[Cardboard Box Team]
Huge amounts of cardboard boxes are used every day in stores and logistics.
After recycling and low-carbon green manufacturing,
they become the “Good Neighbor Paper Library,” something kids love the most!
Children can read, explore, and learn inside the paper library
and feel how reading and sustainability connect.
Stop 4｜[Sustainable Living Team]
Beyond recycling, 7-ELEVEN continues to reduce single-use waste.
Since 2022, ice machines and sealing machines have been introduced to reduce cup lids and ice bags. This has helped reduce more than 1,100 tons of plastic waste.
From recycling to plastic reduction and greener choices, let’s make sustainability part of everyday life.
Five-Language Version Launch - Join the Sustainability Recycling Squad
To help more families join in, the picture book and activities are now available in Chinese, English, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Tagalog. This is also the very first time a Tagalog version has been released. By using familiar languages, children can feel more comfortable exploring the secret of “waste transformation.” From coffee grounds to plastic bottles and cardboard boxes, kids can discover that every piece of recycled waste can become an important force in protecting the Earth.
